Giles Co. Ten
Feb 22d 1866

General Fisk

Sir.
I respectfully state that I rented a portion of Mr W. Nance's land Giles Co. Ten. last Fall, and moved on it about twenty seven colored women and children. We learned afterwards that the land was in the books of the Bureau, and that an effort was made to rent it over the heads of Mr James Nance (Brother of W. Nance) and myself. Mr. James Nance then rented the land of the Bureau. But [[strikethrough]] you [[/strikethrough]] a great effort is made to break this contract. Mr W. Nance has received his pardon. And I trust that under the circumstances, but your arrangements will not be broken up.

I am Respectfully
William Stodderd
