with authority to provide attendants, Supplies &c at the expense of the County. He informed me that he had taken care of 21 cases, and had not lost a single case. One box of clothing and a barrel of Beans have been sent to him by the Bureau, and, if in the judgement of the Supt., needed, further supplies of Provisions have been promised. These stores are intended more especially for the convalescents, after they have been discharged from the Pest House.

On the whole it gives me sincere pleasure to compliment the County Court of Franklin County for its conduct in this emergency - especially as it is in striking contract with that of too many like bodies in other parts of the District.

No further action is thought necessary - it is confidently believed that there will not be a case of smallpox in Franklin Co., a month or six weeks hence.
