owing to the Records having been destroyed during the war, there was some delay in Mr. Ball's getting proof of title sufficient to warrant the Bureau in turning the property over to him, and although the purchase by your Petitioner was known and agreed to by the Agent of the Beaureau at this place, at the time of his purchase, yet a formal Order turning the property over, was not (for the reasons mentioned) issued until March 29th 1866.  Your petitioner would state that he has paid to the Beaureau as rent for the same since the execution of the Deed from Ball to him the Sum of Sixty Six & 83/100 dollars, to Bvrt Lt. Col A. B. Lucas and the sum of Forty Six 67/100 dollars to Bvrt Brig Genl H E Trotter who respectively were agents of the Beaureau in this city.  That he was informed by the Agent Bvrt Lt Col Lucas at the time of the payment of the rent to him, that he would receive back the amounts so paid by him upon the final order turning over said property to him.

Your Petitioner states he entered the U S Service as volunteer in April 1861 and remained until October/65, and was in the field all the time, and invested his money in the property, on his muster out and had to pay for the property and pay rent at the same
