States that the proffessed assistance by the Bureau to aid the colored people in furnishing their church at that place has been rejected by the directors of the church who say that they will finish the church & furnish a teacher themselves. The object on the ground that if the Bureau assists them they would want to control their school & that they did not want a Yankee teacher who would teach including doctrines to their nigger
Recommends that the appropriation be withheld for the present.
