Dr J. Cobb

Dear Sir..

Mr Wm Wells left Clarksville on Saturday Feb 2nd for his mission on Buck and McMullens farm four miles up the river. He claimed to have an appointment to preach there on the following Sabbath. He has not been [[strikethrough]] in [[/strikethrough]] seen here since. He hired a horse of Mr Roach (at Livey Stable.) to be back the next evening.

Mr Daugherty told me he saw Mr Wells in Nashville on Monday the 4th of Feb.

This morning news is received of a Methodist preacher from Clarksville selling a horse on public square at Nashville. We supposed it to be him (Wells) Mr Wells is a very small man, not five feet in height, an Englishman, speaks quite broken. Catch the hypocrite and bring him to justice.
Yours truly, J L Roberts
