If this is practicable I would recommend that the request be granted.  I will see that they are judiciously distributed: and that each one who may have a musket, has five or six rounds of cartridges. The colored people are much excited to day and many of them have left their work and are now loitering around the streets, discussing the coming campaign against their nightly visitors. 

In this respect the Ku Kulx have done much injury to the Freedmen and disturbed the quiet and peace of the city.
