Arrested him & fined him ten dollars & + the All cost in the case I propose for the civil authorities to take each + every case of any kind and dispose of them when they will do justice between man and man regardless of Color but when they fail to do this It becomes my duty to take the matter in hand. I have had several other cases before me but I have endeavored to encourage them to do right and become good citizens thereby writing any humble or [[?]] [[?]] to themselves. I have adopted this cause as far as practicable for I have but one desire in regard to this matter and that is let each and every Citizen of this state and of the United States acknowledge law and order to be their landmark and for all of us as a common people regardless of Color respect + obey the laws as our only protection.
