ago. The grain is very large, plump & fine. Tobacco crop. Not so largely planted as in 1860, but the crop is highly promising and with good season will make a good crop. The hay crop is very fine - also the oats. I have never seen better oats in the county. Hogs. My best information is that the stock of hogs is small, compared with 1860. I infer from all that I can hear, that, there will be plenty for home consumption, none for market. All things considered, I believe the County to be in a sound & healthy condition, so far as regards provisions. The freedman, as a general thing are performing their duty well & faithfully and they are behaving themselves quietly & orderly —
