Colonel
I have the honor to apply for transportation for Jane Lee (Col'd.) aged 25 years from Raleigh to Nashville Tenn. This woman has recently lost her husband and is destitute and in feeble heart. Mr. Skinner who raised her, has written for her, offering her, offering her a good home provided she can get transportation. The Rev. Thomas E. Skinner D.D. is pastor of the Baptist Church in Nashville and from my personal knowledge of him I am assured he will do all he has promised for this woman. I have seen the letter he has written to Jane and am satisfied the case is one worthy of favorable notice.
Very Respectfully

Sir,
It appears from a written contract signed by one Emily Waddel that she bound her daughter Jalisa until she was of lawful age. A complaint is made at this Office that the child was taken from Rachel Taylor by her mother and is now at your house. This contract was satisfied by Mr. Thompson Supt of the Bureau at Pittsboro formerly. You will please deliver this girl to Rachel Taylor her legally constituted guardian. Her retention in your service after the weight of this notice will make you liable for damages.

Mr. N. T. Womble complains that you occupy his house and that you refuse to pay rent - or leave the premises. You have no right to expect a man to furnish you with a house without rent. You leave the premises you occupy at once, and give no further trouble.

Sir
Washington Ligon complains that he bought a cow of you for $40 00 which he was to pay you 5 bushels of Peas and 1000 ;bs of hay, and the balance in six Months. He failed to meet his engagement and you took the cow away without any legal process, in doing which you have made yourself liable. Ligon however is willing you should keep the cow provided you pay for the cows board for the time she was there, and the peas you had of him, amounting to $18 25/100. This is a just demand and must be arranged You will please call at this office and settle this matter and save further trouble.
Yours Respectfully
