Barnes Solomon Esq.
Johnson Co.
Sir.
Donelson Turner complains that he engaged to work for you one year at $6.00 per month. Articles of Agreement were drawn up to that effect. According to that contract, which is at my Office, you are bound to the fulfillment of your engagement. The complaint is that you have driven him off your farm and will not allow him to work. In this you have made yourself liable for the payment of the $72.00 and unless you have some satisfactory explanation, I shall hold you responsible for the entire amount. I would advise you to let the man go to work, which will save you trouble. Please call at this Office and explain this matter.
Yours Respectfully

Bailey Mr
Wake Co.
Sir
There seems to be a disagreement between you and David Hicks as to the number of rails he split. He claims to have split 2050. From the statement of this man I cannot see where he is at fault. Unless his statement can be met by some substantial evidence to the contrary, I cannot interfere in removing him from the house. Furnish him the timber and he will split the remainder of the rails.
Yours Respectfully
