May 18th, 1868. Chur Col Jacob F. A. A. A. Genl. Colonel. I have the honor to apply for transportation for John T. High, wif and two children aged 10 and 12 years, to go from Raleigh N.C. to Fort Smith, Arkansas. These people were refugees from Arkansas. about the breaking out of the war. He was Clerk in the Quartermaster Department at this post for some time and at the breaking up of that Department was thrown out of employment. His home is at Fort Smith. where they have friends and land, but no money for transportation. They are calling upon the Bureau for aid. I would recommend.
