Sir.
Wm Waldruss complains that he hired himself to you for the year for $70.00 and a certain amount or rations. Also his home and garden. He further states you have discharged him and ordered him off the place. The man is entitled to his home and garden for the year and the entire amount of his wages. Sickness is a causality that does not give you an excuse for casting him off. We shall protect him in his right. You will please call at this office and explain the matter.

Sir
Calvin Hicks complains that he hired himself to you for the year at $5.00 per month and rations - and because he went to bury the dead on Saturday last you turned him off. Do you think this a sufficient cause for discharging him? You make yourself liable for the years wages and what damages he may sustain in being thrown out of employment. Please call at this office and explain the matter - or if more convenient you can write of what he states is true you had better let him return to his labor.
