Respectfully returned to Col J.F. C. A.A.A.Genl. The Freedman (Wm Edward) admits that T.F. Lee. loaned him ten dollars ($10 00/100) to buy a Copper Boiler, and became security to the amt. of twelve dollars ($12 00/100) for a Marble Slab. He also states that he is not able and has not been able to pay for these articles. His wife has been sick and it has taken all his means to provide for his family. He is confident now that the busy season has come, he will be able to pay for them before the first July. If this is not satisfactory he will five up the Boiler and Slab to T.F. Lee. although by doing so he will be deprived of the means of obtaining his livlihood.
