Contract between J T Parham of the first part and Cyrus Hames a Freedaman of the second part. Witnessed that the part of the second part agrees and binds himself to work for the party of the first part the remainder of the present year (1866)  He binds himself to make a good hand at any kind of work he is capable of doing at all times, as directed by his employer or his agent, to keep silent [[use of?]] profain Language. Treat him and his Family with respect in all actions to make a reasonable deduction for all lost time and it is understood and agreed that in the [[?]] he should quit this Employment before the End of the year without good Cause he is to Loose his wages, Clothe himself & pay his own Medical Bills

The party of the first part binds himself & representatives to furnish the party of the second part comfortable Quarters and plenty of good holesome food & pay him at the rate of Twenty dollars pr months -
