Sept. 24th 1866.
I this day bargained and contracted with Larkin Miller, his wife Francis & Son Jacob (all cold) for the year 1867. Commencing January 1st and ending 20th Dec., Larkin to cultivate the garden and attend to my horses, drive the carriage & do any other work that might be needed. Francis to cook, groom & help milk, and do other work required. Jacob to do any and all that he is able to do, or may be required to do by the family–They, all are required to furnish their own clothing, pay their own doctor bills;-The said Miller furnish provision and quarters. 
In full compliance with and performance of the above contract, the said Miller employer is to pay to the three at the end of the year 1867 three hundred dollars ($300.00) for Noncomplyance with contract forfeits wages, but does not imply the right to leave.
