Mrs. Ruth F. Kirk
Gallup, New Mexico

Dear Mrs. Kirk:

I am indeed glad to have your letter of July 11 in which you tell me of the interest that the Navajo people are showing relative to sending a delegation to the Annual Conventiion of the National Congress of American Indians.

Because of the extreme heat here in Oklahoma in August, the Executive Committee is giving consideration to postponing the Annual Convention to October 23-26. I think this will be done, but an absolutely definite decision has not been made. Within the next week, we should know.

If the Convention is postponed until the October dates, it will be here in Oklahoma City -- where splendid arrangements in all respects can be made for the Convention. We will keep you advised in the hopes that, through your efforts, the Navajo delegation can be with us.

Many thanks for your interest in the Navajos and the NCAI.

With all good wishes, I am

Sincerely yours,
