Re. HEALTH-HUALAPAI

RESOLUTION:

Whereas, the Hualapai Indians of Arizona are in desperate need of medical and hospital facilities, and,

Whereas, there are approximately 500 Hualapai Indians in and around Peach Springs with no medical or hospital facilities and,

Whereas, the nearest available hospital is at Phoenix, some 225 miles distant, or at Ft. Defiance, some 358 miles, and Mohave County Hospital at Kingman, some 52 miles for emergency cases only, and,

Whereas, there is now located a Hospital at Valentine, some 17 miles from Peach Springs which has been closed for the past two years, and,

Whereas, if the Hospital facilities were made available at Valentine, it would relieve the dire need of medical and hospital facilities among the Hualapais, and,

Whereas, for a further reason to reopen the facilities at Valentine, a feeling of resentment on the part of the White patients and officials agains't [[against]] the intruding Hualapai patients has resulted in a loss of confidence and on the part of the Hualapai, against the facilities at the Mohave County Hospital at Kingman,

Now Therefore be it resolved that the Hospital and medical facilities at Valentine, Arizona, be reopened for the use and benefit of the Hualapai Indians.
