NARA 691 "D" 3 E & M 5 72 Lenoir Co. N.C. October 31st 1867 Dunn, Wm. W. Citizen States that two colored Boys, who were "bound our to him", absented themselves from his employ; and requests that he be relieved from any further responsibility respecting them upon returning the indentures Kinston N.C. November 6th 1867 Respectfully referred to Post Head Quarters W.J. Broatch Capt 40th U.S. Infy. Hd Qrs Sub Dist No 2. Goldsboro Dec 24/67 Respectfully referred to Mr Jno. D. Black Agt. at Kinston N.C. for investigation and report C.E. Compton Bt. Lt. Col. U.S.A. Major 40th Infy Sub Asst Com Recd. Goldsboro, N.C. Nov. 2nd 1867 Bu R.F. & A.L. Kinston Dec 27" 1867 Respectfully returned Henderson Wright has not been heard from since leaving. Moses Harper is working in Jones Co and says he will not return unless forced to. Mr Dunn is a well known citizen of this place and from all I can learn his statement is reliable. I would recomend that the indenture be ordered to be cancelled Jno D Black Agt Bu RF & A.L.
