NARA 693 Lenoir Co NC Oct 31.st 1867 Capt. Broatch, D Sir I have the honor to report to you, that some time during last winter I had two colored boys bound to me by Lt. Cox then acting as agent of the Bureau, said boys named Moses Harper and Henderson Wright absented themselves from my employ Sometime during March last, without any reasonable excuse to do So. and I have not seen either of them since. This is to request you that I be released from any further responsibility in the matter, upon the returning of the indentures which I hold. Respectfully Wm W Dunn We the undersigned, Vouch for The Truth of The Statement above given with regard to Moses Harper and Henderson Wright. and we further give it as our opinion that Mr. Dunn acted as a kind and humane master towards them while they were with him.
