It is very difficult to answer your questions in regard to State School fund. The state officers are doing all they can to provide for its payment and probably will succeed, but it is not certain. In some localities colored teachers might do well, but generally the freedmen prefer white teachers even when inferior to colored. This new school law provides for a white school and a colored school in every township 6 miles square, but in many places prejudice has not been overcome enough to establish colored schools and therefore generally the schools will be established first in and near large towns. The rent paid by the Bureau can be had to pay teachers provided the owner of the building donates it to that object. Teachers should
