Colonel,
I have the honor to enclose herewith Mrs. G.E. Butler's Vouchers in Duplicate for service rendered as Teacher in Bureau R.F. and A.L. from May 4" 1867 to July 6." 1867. inclusive - Two Mos. at 50.$ per month.

These Vouchers were sent to this office last July for the signatures of Mrs. Butler and the Sub-Asst. Comm'r. from Office Supt. Education Bureau, R.F. & A.L. for Ala.

Up to July 31st 1867, in that year, it was requisite in this Sub District, in order that a school become a "Bureau school," that it should have an average attendance of Forty (45) scholars, Then the teacher could be paid Fifty, 50, Dollars per month by the Bureau. Otherwise it was not taken up as such or paid by the Bureau.
