Sub Dist of Eufaula
Bureau &c
Eufaula Ala.
July 8 1868

Mr R.D. Harper
Supt of Education

Sir
I enclose herewith report of school at Troy Ala. for month of June 1868. The distance of this school did not occur to me when my letter was mailed to you yesterday. You directed Wiley to close his school during the warm weather, and propose to visit Troy in a few days to see what progress has been made, if any. Wiley is a freedman & I doubt very much if he is competent to teach.

I am Sir
Very Respectfully yrs
E H Weirman
Lieut 4th Art'y USA
Sub Asst Commr.

Transcription Notes:
Eugene H Weirman - Other Military records say Eugene H Weirman, Lieut. 4th Art'y or E.H Weirman. In the Aug 1868 Military Returns he is listed as detached service at Eufaula, Ala. as Sub. Asst. Commissioner for the Bureau of R.F. & A.L. - just as seen here. So this name is correct.
