to take no step in the erection of the school building until I hear from the Supt of Education. 
There has already been so much delay in all this matter. I regret very much that there should be need of any further. It seems so very important that the building of the house should commence at once so as to be completed before winter. 
Being very desirous to consult with the Supt. concerning the educational interests of the freedmen of this Sub. Dist. and also with the Asst Commr. in regard to other matters of importance I send to day a request to the Asst. Commr. that I may be ordered to Montgomery for such purposes. 
If necessary will you & Dr. Harper be so kind as to help in bringing this about?
