done by seating the pupils a little closer. This is one of the best designs in the country for a house of this capacity; tho' there are others that might perhaps be built a little cheaper.
This Design (No. 83) is for a frame house enclosed with a single course of brick; it can however be made of solid brick without the frame. Mr. Randall has a great variety of Designs for any number of scholars from fifty to fifteen hundred, but he deems this a model house in most respects. In your warm climate a different ventilating arrangement will probably be required from what we use, and, to be as nearly perfect as possible, a house should be designed with special reference to this item. This is a Design for a $12.000 house here.
The three small Designs (18-63 and 84) need no explanation. No. 84 is neat little house now building. It is for twenty-four pupils, and if increased in length might accommodate fifty or more. You will observe that it has a series of cloak boxes instead of wardrobes. These boxes are about 18 inches square, more or less, and about six feet high, with door in front and hooks on the inside for caps, cloaks &c. It is a very neat arrangement, and cheaper than wardrobes
