In all cases where Freedmen were concerned I have been verry particular that they were fairly dealt with and in every instance give them justice, and by that means proved myself a friend to them, and they are verry anxious for me to open a school for their benefit, at this place. A petition was sent from here signed by blacks and whites, the most prominent in the community, to Mr. Buckley, supt. but has never been heard from. Please let me know the chance to get a school for them. I can get at least forty five schollars.
In cases that come before me, am I to be governed entirely by the Statute Law? A reply will much oblige.
