Dear Sir.- I am a teacher – have been since my return from the army in '62. I have been thinking of going to your State–Alabama–the coming winter, and in writing, I wish to inquire if there is a demand for teachers?- what compensation is given? and Morality of the people. I should prefer teaching among the Freedmen.

If convenient, and you think it advisable to come Please answer at some length giving me where to go,-who to aply to &c
