It is very open, with only board blinds for windows and has no chimney, indeed, it is not at all "eligble", and, if we were to wait for the Freedmen to prepare it, we would have, I fear, to resign this generation.

The rent for the two buildings we design using, is $12.50 for one, and $8.00 for the other. They are not very good, yet they and the grounds open about them, will do very well.

Now, will the Bureau assist us? I fear the school arrangements of Lowdnes Co. are very incomplete - and we feel no certainty of getting any salary. But, a small loan has been made up here to be returned if the State pays us, and the Society that attends to our transportation and return R.R. fare will assist us, somewhat if necessary, so that we shall continue
