Col. Edwin Beecher
Assistant Comr.,  }
Montgomery Ala.   }

Dear Sir,
You will see by the accompanying letter and bill that Messrs Andrews of Chicago have given us very favorable terms for School furniture. They desire me to send the money immediately.

My object in writing you is to ascertain how the appropriation, which has been allowed us, can be most expeditiously secured. I know that you require vouchers, but how much the matter can be expedited I do not know.

Mr Putnam suggests, that you may be able to fill out a blank according to the inclosed bill which may be sent either to me or to Mr Andrews direct.

I want to purchase that lot of furniture and desire to get it on the ground at the earliest possible day. As Mr Andrews has made such a handsome deduction, I would be glad to pay him promptly, and therefore venture to ask instruction and perhaps a little help
