Alpine, Talladega Co., Ala.
Friday, May, 6th 1870
Col. Edwin Beecher,
Supt of Education,
Dear Sir:
I received your letter last Tuesday. I would have sent my reports sooner, but I did not have a good understanding until I heard from you. My school was out last Friday; having taught two weeks. So, you will find enclosed my reports for two weeks. I stop teaching on the account of the people were not prompt in paying me up. Mr. Brown thought it was best for me to put in my time in going to school, and continue until the schools commence again in the Fall. Address your letter in the case of Rev H.E. Brown Talladega, Talladega Co Ala.
Yours &c
Samuel White.
