Lineville Delta, and Ashcroft, Clay. County.

There are about sixteen hundred, children between the ages of 6 & 18, in this Dist to be educated. Schools might be organized at the following named places, Viz. Ashville, Montavalle, and Lineville, but the Freedmen are unable to do much towards supporting schools.

To supply all the points, where schools are needed in this District, there will be needed some twelve or fifteen teachers.

Twenty five dollars ($25) per month should be paid as a reasonable compensation for teachers where the school does not number over thirty pupils, and fifty dollars ($50) where the schools number fifty or more pupils.

There is not any place in this District where Northern teachers could safely be employed and sustained by tuition fees.

There are no teachers to my knowledge engaged for the coming year in this District but I suppose that the Normal school at Talladega will be opened the 1st of October, under the controls of the American Missionary Association. There is but one school
