September 2, 1981.

Dear compañeros and compañeras:

On behalf of the District of Columbia Organizing Committee for the Hemisphere Conference in Solidarity with Haiti, I would like to invite you to a cocktail to raise funds for the expenses of the local delegation.

This historic conference will be held from September 18 to September 20, 1981 in Panamá. The purpose of the Conference is to bring together Haitian patriots throughout the Hemisphere to create the basis for unity among them so that with the support of their friends, they can effectively participate in the struggle being waged by the Haitian people for the creation of a new free and just Haiti.

As a human rights activist, I recognize the important role of international solidarity in all national liberation struggles. The Haitian people have suffered too much and too long under the Duvalier dictatorship, and we have now a great opportunity to support the just demands of the Haitian people.

In order to help, I am holding a fund raiser Tuesday, September 15 at 7:30 P.M. in my house at 4314, 36th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C. If you cannot attend, please, mail your contribution to:

Hope to see you next Tuesday. Chile and Haiti will be free!

In struggle,
