The Phillips Collection

June 24, 1988

Dear Artist:

Congratulations! We are delighted that you are going to be part of what promises to be an exciting and provocative exhibition, PRINTS: WASHINGTON. We received over 700 entries from more than 300 artists, from which the jurors selected one print by each of 57 area artists to be included in the exhibition. Preparations are currently underway for the exhibition catalogue, the framing of all of the prints, and the organization of the exhibition. All of the works accepted for the exhibition are being framed and you will be allowed to keep the frame after the show closes. As we get closer to the opening of the exhibition, we will send you information about the preview reception and any other related events.

Enclosed is a loan form for your print that will be shown in the PRINTS: WASHINGTON exhibition at The Phillips Collection from September 17 through October 23, 1988. I would greatly appreciate it if you could complete this form and return the white copy to me as soon as possible * (please keep the yellow copy for your records). Please fill out the form as completely and as accurately (especially medium) as possible because this is the information that will be used for the labels and catalogue that accompany the exhibition.

There will also be a list of names, addresses, and phone numbers kept at both the front desk and the telephone receptionist's for visitors who are interested in further information on an artist in the exhibition. If you want to be on this list, please fill out the enclosed "Contact" form and return it with the loan form--the listed "contact" could be yourself, your gallery, etc. This information will not be included in the exhibition catalogue.

Thank you for your time and assistance. We look forward to showing your work at The Phillips Collection.

Sincerely,

Linda Johnson
Linda Johnson, Assistant Curator

*Please return forms no later than July 5, 1988, to my attention at The Phillips Collection.
