Lulette, dearest,

How sweet of you to write me when I have not answered your last letter.  I am going to tell you why at once, you are a very understanding person.

Well!  I have been going through a brain storm as to whether to go to Southampton or go back to my place at Lyme.  What ever I do it will be hard.  I have finally decided to go back to Lyme, as there does not seem to be any chance of selling it at present, at least not for a price I would accept.  So I feel I should take care of the place and have my furniture moved back.  Also I am not sure I would care to leave my friends at Lyme and be completely with the Keyes family.  So I think it is all for the best.

Now, I am so very happy that you will be
