Coming home, the Foreign Building [[strikethrough]]] 's [[/strikethrough]] Operations man in charge of Oslo drove out to Orly with us. He and Eero were unrolling drawings and discussing them all through baggage checking, customs examination, police and passport counters.

I should have explained in the general stuff up front about our friends--which is sort of what I meant by "social life" away from Bloomfield Hills. Although we didn't meet until my Times assignment brought us together, we knew dozens of the same people and really can't understand how we didn't meet. Some of them were close to one of us and only acquaintances of the other, but some were good friends of both. Anyway, this has meant a rather nice widening circle and yet continuing relationships with peo [[strikethrough]] o [[/strikethrough]]le [[people]] [[strikethrough]] [[/strikethrough]].
