ABOUT THE ARTIST

The artist was born in Cairo, Illinois.  He studied in this country at the John Harron Art Institute and the Fogg Art Museum, Harvard University and abroad in Paris at the Académie Moderne, and Académie Scandinave. He received a Julius Rosenwald Fund Fellowship for Creative Painting in 1943-45, and was a lecturer for the Association of American Colleges from 1942 through 1945.

He has exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the Philadelphia and Los Angeles Museums, and others throughout the country. 

Mr. Woodruff taught art in the Atlanta University Center and now is on the art faculty of New York University.
