Gentlemen

Permit me through you to return my thanks to the members of the National Academy of Design for the very flattering testimonial they have been pleased to award to me as their Treasurer as Expressed in the resolutions passed at the special meeting held on the 15th inst. 

In claiming to have discharged my duty as Treasurer faithfully and honestly I feel that I have done no more than the trust demanded of me, ———— To advance the interests of the institution has ever been my aim ———— The approbation of its members the highest reward I Ever looked for or Expected for my services

This very marked and flattering testimonial of their approbation is however none the less acceptable that it is an unexpected and voluntary offering -  on the contrary permit me to assure you that it is in the highest degree gratifying to my feelings, and will be treasured by me as a memento beyond all price.

In the discharge of my duty to the institution I have not spared myself. and although I have devoted much time that perhaps properly belonged to my profession hours, yet by far the greater portion had been taken from that which would otherwise have been given to the social enjoyments of my family - Therefore under the polite permission given to
