[[strikethrough]]the delerious disfornition to disbelieve [[/strikethrough]] this apparent falsifying of the facts in this appearance will opperate in the minds of those otherwise well educated persons who have never endeavored to improve or educate the eye- [[strikethrough]] the Knowledge that the which is toward [[/strikethrough]] preventing a belief in the truthfulness of the appearance. [[strikethrough]] perhps [[/strikethrough]] as received by that organ.

This fact has frequently occurred under most articles, [[strikethrough]] my aim [[/strikethrough]] observations [[strikethrough]] this [[/strikethrough]] a celebrated carriage builder. Some years ago employed a sign painter of celebrity to paint him a [[strikethrough]] sign [[/strikethrough]] delineation of trade.-- The artist chosen to present his carriage in motion, the horses on full galop-[[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] the wheels of the vehicle properly drawn in perspective - an elipsis, and from [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] motion [[strikethrough]] creating [[/strikethrough]] the shake of the wheels presenting a blur near the centre, in place of [[strikethrough]] showing [[/strikethrough]] the even spaced spokes as was Known by the builder to be the fact. This correct representation was objected to by the carriage builders. [[strikethrough]] myself a young artist at the time was [[/strikethrough]] being present the sign painter endeavored in vain to convince him of this error. he knew he said they were 10 and should well appear in the representation, he was taken to the corner of the street, and the appearance of receding vehicles and wheels [[?]] motion pointed out to him to no effect. The wheels were round to his own knowledge and the spokes true, no matter what they appear like to the painter round they should be made to satisfy him and [[?]], the painter was compelled to make them [[strikethrough]] to satisfy his employer [[/strikethrough]] by his employers authority, the injury to his work notwithstanding.
This it may soon be corrected, the eye allowed to rule and the judgment or knowledge set at rest by a little study & attention to the [[strikethrough]] following [[/strikethrough]] foregoing diagrams. So far I have considered the subject with references to lines only having no regard to the quantity solidly or bulk contained therin, and this brings us to the next step of advancement in the just appreciation by the eye of simple forms. I have before given the square, triangle, and circle in line only, if to this be added the sides of objects, filling in of the circle, and the perspective configurated of the forms as presented to the eye. We have a variety of representations of real objects in their essence or simple root to an almost unlimited extent.
Thus up to the square as before given [[image]] be added the sides making a cube and a drawing made this of the presenting the unexpected appearance, have the following [[image]] four the sides and top appearing [[strikethrough]] smaller and distant which is [[/strikethrough]] perspective being the art following the resemblance of object on a [[?]] surface as the objects themselves appear to the eye of conveying to a point, which by the perspective delineation is the fact which it presents. [[strikethrough]] the lines which when geometrically projected would be rendered this past the simple square is drawn. as presented to the eye viewed directly in front from the angles of this a point of sight is selected to which all the other lines converge, will be rendered thus.

the lines drawn from the angles to the point of sight determining the degree of reduction of the quanties of the top and sides as presented to the eye, and by another diagonal line drawn to another point of intersection on the horizon line, the proper width of the same, to be equal to the square of the front presentation, and thus the cube is perfected, or any number produced at different distances from the spectator at intervals within the same perspective lines there.
