believe of course that value of its projected exhibition will depend to a great extent on its possessing a truly representing character. 

It is here that I am frankly puzzled at not being asked to send a painting since that is my medium. With all reasonable modesty. I think I might claim to be generally considered among the first hundred representative American painters.
 
Apparently the Jury support the claim by including me in the list to be invited.
