CONTENTS: NEW PRINCIPLES FOR ART EDUCATION

PREMISE: THAT THE DYNAMICS IN EXTERNAL REALITY CONTAIN THE LAWS FOR TRUE CREATIVENESS; THAT INDIVIDUAL CREATIVENESS EXPANDS IN RATIO TO THE UNDERSTANDING ADJUSTMENT MADE TO THESE LAWS

THESE LAW ARE:

1- Changes in the social body and the emotional needs of society have created new art directions which, antipodal in method to [[?]] all preceding ones, are age-old in purpose, i.e., the extension of humanity's creativeness.

2- Our present period has made a cataclysmic break with the past and its proceedures, introduces new means for advancing the constructive in life.

3- Although the existing universal spirit of destruction may continue, a spirit of constructiveness is emerging. Not yet qualified, our period is trying to do so and its effort then, is pioneering. That being its nature, it demands a rejection of all sophistications which impede explorative action.

4- Social need is shifting art from the realm of of speculative aesthetics into one of aesthetics for use--social use.

5- As art moves toward social use-value, it extends individual psychology into social psychology.

6- Art, as it matures in social psychology, becomes the best and most accurate means yet provided for true evaluation of America's emotional reality.

7- Art education predicted upon these new laws cannot teach art. It can only teach social and psychological [[awareness?]] of these factors in life which, when used creatively, make art.

8- Because this is an educational principle for teaching awareness, it can be applied to general education, fuse acquired knowledge with intuitive perception, thereby give l [[crossed-out]] 'live' to facts.
