Dear Romie:

Yes, I am back after a very exciting trip. PORTFOLIO IV will be out very shortly. I am most apologetic about No. III; when I left for Italy in April I left a list of all contributors and instructions that they were to be sent complimentary subscription to the magazine as well as two extra copies of the number they appeared in and of course the usual remuneration for their contributions. Could yours have gone astray?

We are sending you PORTFOLIOS today, two for you and two for Fields, and a check for $50 to be divided between you for the magnificent contribution you made. I hope that next year, now that circulation is increasing, that expenses of my venture will be reduced and adequate means available to increase payment for materials used.

I have sufficient material on hand for the next number (Jan., 47) and in March I plan to go to Greece. The following number I would like to have made up entirely of Negro contributors. I already have very fine items for this but would like your advice and help and I am wondering if you would be willing to act as one of my associate editors, your name to appear on the masthead. There is no salary connected with this but I am hoping that you may find it of sufficient interest to devote some time to helping me gather an impressive list of contributions by artists, writers, and musicians.

Pietro Lazzari is having a show at Betty Parson's Gallery, the preview, November 11, please be sure and come.

Affectionately,
Caresse Crosby
