I had better end this now so I can catch the last bus home but I did want to write about this before our meeting. 

Pollock is a bit like Turner, who sort of made pictures that looked like Monet and Renoir, before these people gave them (the pictures) a real reason for being. He (Turner) made a caricature of something before that something existed. Hoffman of course will always be a victim of his basic timidity.
