Dear Ms. Susanne Hilberry,

I am the Director and Curator for the Russel Sage College Rathbone Gallery in Albany, New York, and recently I was invited to work with the Stux Gallery as a Curatorial Associate. I am currently involved in curating two exhibitions focusing on abstraction, one for the Stux Gallery in Boston, and the other for the Rathbone Gallery of Russel Sage College.

As I mentioned to you when we spoke on the phone, the exhibits focus not on the newer younger artist's appropriation of various abstract forms, but rather on the continued exploration and development of abstraction by artists such as Dorothea Rockburne, Mel Bochner, and Stephan Buckley. I have a great deal of respect for Elizabeth Murray's work and I feel given the focus of the shows, that it is particularly appropriate to include her work. Unfortunately, as you know it has been difficult to find available work. However, I am still optimistic about the possibility of including Murray's work in the shows. As we discussed, I would appreciate it if you could send me slides of her work which might be available. The works by Elizabeth Murray would be an asset to both exhibits. I realize that the works which you have are older but I am hoping they will be consistent with the focus of the exhibition.

The exhibit in Boston will open with a reception on September 30, and run through October 25. The exhibition space at this location can accommodate works no larger than
