Dear Jake:

Things have been popping so that I have had very little time to write but am sure you will forgive me. The gallery is going great guns and I really miss talking to you. The big AFA Core show was very successful and your painting "Praying Ministers" was sold for $2,400. I donated 1/3 of this to Core which we then will both split.

The World's Fair Committee for Art has selected your "Invisible Man Among the Scholars" to be shown. The Virginia Museum has taken "Menagerie" for a circulating exhibition in the South. The Museum of Modern Art is hanging four of your paintings in their New Opening exhibition. The current "Friends of the Whitney Collect Exhibition has your "Taboo". I must say we are very happy with all this attention.

I do hope that things are working out equally well in Nigeria. I received a short note from Dr. Lumbo who said he had not met you so far but was looking forward to your visit. He also said a friend of his would be coming state side, so please assure him we will show him the town.

The gallery will be closed July and August. If things work out, I will spend the month of July at the seashore with Andrew and perhaps take a trip in August as he will go to camp that month. My divorce should come through on the 24th of May and although it will be sad in a way, it will also be best for all. If only I could let Max know.

How does Jane like Africa? Is Gwen staying in the back of the tent or is she aggitating for emancipation? We have taken care of a few small bills. You will receive a package of mail.

Jake dear take care of yourself, have a wonderful visit. If there is anything I can do, please let me know. Paint hard, and know that Bob and I love you all dearly (even if we haven't been invited to the WhiteHouse).

Lots of love,

Terry
