CONDITIONS

1. The National Gallery of Art will give to objects deposited with it the same care they would receive if they were the Gallery's own property, but it assumes no responsibility in case of loss or damage by theft, fire or any other cause whatsoever. 

2. It rests with the discretion of the National Gallery of Art officials as to whether, or for how long, objects lent to it shall be exhibited to the public.

3. Unless otherwise agreed in writing between the National Galley of Art and the depositor, no insurance will be carried by the Gallery on the objects deposited. 

4. Unless permission to do so has been specifically denied in writing by the depositor at or prior to the time this receipt is issued, the Gallery is authorized to photograph for record purposes, any object listed on the face of this receipt.

5. In receiving or surrendering imported works of art, the National Gallery of Art requires that the lender comply with all Government customs regulations.

6. The attributions are those specified by the depositor, and the National Gallery of Art does not assume any responsibility for the accuracy thereof.

7. Upon surrender of this receipt, or upon the written order of the depositor or his duly authorized and accredited agent or successor in interest, any object deposited in the National Gallery of Art may be withdrawn upon reasonable notice. Under certain conditions, the National Gallery of Art may require a written order of the owner or his duly authorized agent or legal representative before it delivers or returns said objects.

8. In case of the death of an owner, the legal representative of the deceased is requested to notify the National Gallery of Art forthwith, giving his full name and address in writing and enclosing a certified copy of his authority. 

9. The National Gallery of Art will give reasonable notice in writing if it desires to have any object taken back by the depositor. Such an object, if not withdrawn by the depositor or his agent, may be placed in storage at the depositor's risk and expense.
