Dear Mrs. Ward:

It was a great pleasure to meet you the other day at your gallery. Thank you so much for your co-operation and for promising to lend the Dunn International Exhibition that marvellous painting, "The Demuth American Dream", by Robert Indiana. Lady Dunn and Lord Beaverbrook have asked me to convey to you all their thanks for generously agreeing to this loan. It will be a great asset to our exhibition.

As I believe I told you, the judges will be Mr. Andrew Ritchie, Mr. Peter Wilson, Mr. Douglas Cooper and myself, and there will be $30,000-worth of prizes. The exhibition opens at the Beaverbrook Art Gallery, Fredericton, New Brunswick, on September 7th, and at the Tate Gallery, London, on November 14th. Naturally all costs of transport and insurance will be borne by the sponsors of the exhibition, and our packers, Penson & Company, will contact you in due course in order to arrange for the collection of the painting at your convenience.

Perhaps you would be so good as to confirm this loan in writing and, at the same time, let me know the year of Indiana's birth.

With again many thanks, and all best wishes.

Yours sincerely,
John Richardson
