THE ARTS COUNCIL OF GREAT BRITIAN
4 St. James's Square, London, S.W.1
TELEPHONE WHITEHALL 9737 TELEGRAMS: AMEC, PICCY, LONDON

CHAIRMAN: THE LORD COTTLESLOW, G.B.E.
SECRETARY-GENERAL: SIR WILLIAM EMRYS WILLIAMS, C.B.E.

11th February, 1964

Dear Mrs. Ward,

We have received your cable about the Robert Indiana painting. John Richardson, the organizer of the exhibition on behalf of the Dunn Foundation, which is responsible for returning the pictures to their owners, is now in New York. He left me his loan forms so that I might prepare a list of addresses for the return of the works for T. Rogers & Co., forwarding agents for he Dunn Foundation. This form has the Stable Gallery as the lender, and under "Correct designation of ownership for catalogue", "Collection of the artist, courtesy Stable Gallery". Accordingly, on Mr. Richardson's behalf, I gave instructions to the forwarding agents to return the painting to you.

Was this an error, or has the painting subsequently been acquired by the Art Gallery of Toronto? We have not received any alterations in the original instructions for return from Mr. Richardson.

Meanwhile, I will instruct Rogers & Co. to have their New York agents collect the painting. I should be glad if you could inform me whether the Dunn Foundation is responsible for the transport to Toronto or whether this should follow at the expense of the Toronto Art Gallery.

Yours sincerely,
Robin Campbell
