THIS is the initial performance of "MORTGAGED" a race play written for THE HOWARD PLAYERS by Willis Richardson, author of "THE CHIP WOMAN'S FORTUNE" which received the highest commendation from the dramatic critics of New York City upon its production by the Ethiopian Art Theatre. One of the chief hopes for a Negro Drama lies in the pen of this young playwright.

The costumes and scenery used in these plays represent the work of the Players in their Workshop.

THE HOWARD PLAYERS are establishing a fund for the building of a LITTLE THEATRE on the University Campus as a home for NEGRO DRAMA. Your active interest and assistance is invited.

"The path you are blazing in dramatic art at Howard University is one way, at least, which seems to me very hopefully to lead to the spiritual vision and social cooperation so greatly desired among our educated citizens, whether Negroes or Whites." - PERCY MACKAYE
