SYNOPSIS

This drama is centered around the intense political rivalries of the Salviati and Medici families for control of the government of Florence, Italy, in the Fifteenth Century. Giovanni Salviati, the last of his line, exiled from Florence by Lorenzo De Medici, called The Magnificent, because of his love for Biano, the ward of Lorenzo, returns to Florence in the guise of a monk. The victim of double dealing on the part of Minuccio, Lorenzo's minister of state, he is apprehended and brought to trial for his life and is finally saved through the pleadings of Bianca.
