P.S. The main difference between this idea and Kiesler's is that [[strikethrough]] the [[/strikethrough]] he shows different aspects of any object, horse, while this shows different themes of an abstract composition. The difference become greater as the idea is applied, as it can be, to many different uses.

Dear Betty:-

Had I written to thank you for your welcome letter and fine big picture I think that at the time should have done it in such a gloomy way that you would have preferred to think me ungrateful. However I do fell better now and in a very good mood thank you for both. I do mean big for the picture because it is very much so in feeling. I was at first going to put a rather wide and deep frame around it but realized that that would reduce it in scale and in fact make it look like a miniature. So I have treated it for the picture it is and just put a piece of glass over it. It always looks good to me and has been one of the few joys I have had here.

I am not going to try to guess how things are with you but cannot see how they could have gotten much worse. Although at what must have been sometime near the bottom Strelsa said you were looking better than ever! Ad wouldn't say anything about New York at all when he was here, but from what he suggested it made Nürnberg seem like Nirvana. As I wrote Ad some time ago I have started to make some pictures and a few pieces of sculpture. I must admit that I began this as a sort of therapy rather than out f any desire to enter those mad and overcrowded fields. I have been very limited in materials and so have done mostly drawings and watercolours. But the activity has made me feel better and I began to get into something which I thought I could push further and I began to think I might have a show somewhere over here, perhaps in Munich. The night before last an idea jelled on which I had fooled around ever since I can remember. It might not be a very popular idea among the painters, but I thought I would tell you about
