One week ago today I little dreamed would be the last that I should ever spend in my happy home which for upwards of twenty years had looked out over the lake from the SW corner of Michigan Ave & Monroe St. The day was spent lightly and pleasantly one shadow being cast over its pleasures however which I will leave unmentioned. In the morning I went to Church alone hearing an excellent sermon from a Kenosha clergyman. Walking home I spent a portion of the time in the Society of Mrs Morgan and afterwards met Mr Burney = Nelson Mal Thompson & others with whome I chatted with until we reached our corner. The wind blew a perfect gale and I sought the shelter of our pleasant library with no regrets. How can I forget that room. (I have attempted a small plan on opposite page)

The afternoon I attended as was my wont the mission after which a short promenade and a flirtation were indulged in with my friend Geo Harvey from Buffalo The dreary South West wind swept mercilessly over the city and the sky was over hung with a dense mass of misty clouds which portended rain. Mother and Charlie were chatting in the Library Frank had gone out to the Kerfoots and Father was at the store. At supper we chatted pleasantly and afterward I hastened to fulfill an engagement to attend Church with Harvey at Grace We had a fine sermon which was lost on me however as a pretty face on the opposet isle monopolized most of my attention.
